Our teachers are highly professional native speakers of French and other languages, selected for their expertise and experience.

It also issues an opinion on proposals for changing educational structures and activities, the extracurricular programme, parents' involvement in the school life, planning and funding school trips, organisation of school life, hygiene, health and safety issues, welcoming and supporting pupils with disabilities, and school meals.

Administration

My child is not French-speaking

Jules Verne Riga French school can make arrangements for non-French speaking children, regardless of their age. Our aim is to allow all non-French speaking kids to learn French and master the main language functions.

Pedagogical functioning:
  • All pupils (from 4 to 10 years old) participating in the programme are enrolled in an ordinary class corresponding to their level or age. The teacher of the reference class works in coordination with the teacher of French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and of French as a Language of Schooling (FLSCO).
  • A FLSCO teacher works in an adapted classroom according to a precise schedule, several times a week.
  • We make sure that all of our pupils learn French and speak French fluently before the end of the Primary School.
Our Latvian language education is divided into 3 main curriculums:
  • LV1 is for native Latvian speakers. The pupils follow the accredited curriculum from 1st to 9th grade with Language, Math, and Science classes taught in Latvian.
  • LV2 is for students who understand Latvian but don't speak it as a mother tongue. The pupils follow the accredited curriculum.
  • LV3 is for pupils who don't speak Latvian and it is not accredited by the Latvian Ministry of Education.

The elementary school (école élémentaire) welcomes students from 6 years old (cours préparatoire) to 10 years old (cours moyen 2).

Mastery of the French language and the first elements of mathematics are the priority objectives of elementary school to enable students to access the fundamental tools of knowledge.

Starting in Cours Préparatoire, students discover the learning of a foreign or regional living language. Further on, the curriculum includes teaching to question the world, artistic teaching (plastic arts and music education), physical and sports education and moral and civic education.

During the two last years of elementary school, pupils consolidate their learning in these areas, discover science and technology, history and geography, and the history of the arts.
